A US-based analyst is saying that a larger iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display is “likely” for release this year.
UBS analyst Steve Milunovich predicts Apple will release a bigger redesigned iPhone this year, in line with consumer expectations and competition from Android devices.
More interesting though is that Milunovich says that his analysis of the supply chain suggests that Apple is also experimenting with a 5.5-inch screen for an even larger iPhone phablet — an iPhone Note, if you will.
If Apple does make a phablet it will be interesting to see whether it tries to differentiate it from the smaller model with dedicated features or accessories, like Samsung’s S-Pen and note taking software. Apple has never attempted to do this before with its range of iOS products, but this could be a special circumstance that requires a unique approach.
