LG has shown off its upcoming smartwatch in new promotion material, but does it have what it takes to be the best watch for your money?
Known as the ‘G Watch’, LG’s wearable was announced last week alongside the unveiling of Google’s Android Wear platform and SDK. Unfortunately for LG, Motorola also announced a watch and stole all of the limelight (and headlines).
It’s pretty obvious from the outset that Motorola has designed a far more stylish timepiece. LG’s G Watch is more like Samsung’s Galaxy Gear: a flat, rectangular-shaped watch made from plastic, rather than leather and metal, like the Motorola 360.
From what we have seen from the interface so far, it looks a lot like vanilla Android, suggesting LG might not have time to customise the look and feel of the system with its own designs. If you ask us, this is a good thing. You could argue that the worst thing about LG otherwise-excellent phones is the LG-designed UI.
But all in all, if Motorola and LG managed to sell many of these first-yen Android Wear devices, expect the lion’s share to go to the Moto team.
