Samsung has chosen a high-volume crowd for its first advertisement: the Oscars audience. The ad, titles " Amazing Things Happen", is surprisingly simplistic for Samsung. There’s no up-beat music, trendy twenty-somethings, and no poking fun at Apple fans. In fact there’s no attempt at whit whatsoever.
We’re glad to see Samsung moving in a new direction with advertising. The Galaxy brand is popular enough in its own right that it could stop identifying itself compared to the iPhone and it’s good to see that it’s finally starting to happen.
Now we just have to wait and see if ad #2 can keep the trend going, or if the Korean giant can’t resist another jab or two at its biggest competitor.
