BlackBerry Torch 9860 Reviews

"The most significant difference with the Torch 9860, compared with either of the BlackBerry Storms, and more significant even than the shift in touchscreen tech, is the hugely improved processor." 7.6/10

"When it comes to watching video the BlackBerry Torch 9860 beats all other BlackBerry's hands down. Having the nice big screen is a huge benefit here and the video quality is pretty decent. Where RIM are let down is that there is not a video download store like on Android and iOS. It would be great to be able to rent or buy a movie for those long journeys. At the moment it is a case of transferring videos from computer to the phone, which is hassle. "

"...the touchscreen form factor may not sit well with the majority of users, particularly when the typing experience isn't quite good enough. Likewise, don't BlackBerry fans buy them primarily for the keyboard anyway? Whatever the case, this certainly isn't a bad phone, just not one we'd outright recommend." 7/10

"Battery life of the BlackBerry Torch 9860 is better than similarly specced Android phones in terms of longevity." 3.5/5 stars

"Those bemoaning the removal of all those lovely physical buttons may be placated slightly by the fact that the Torch 9860's 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen is a real beauty. It uses TFT technology, rather that the all-singing, all-dancing Super AMOLED Plus tech seen on the Samsung Galaxy S2, but the image is bright and the colours bold." 3.5/5 stars

"The 5-megapixel camera on the rear of the device is supported by an LED flash, suffering from the usual shortcomings you'd expect from a phone. Low light shots aren't great, but in good light, the Torch 9860 will give you reasonable results. Being an autofocus camera, you'll get nice sharp images." 3.5/5 stars

65/100

"The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a well designed, well constructed and well specced-up touchscreen smartphone. Its keyboard is our main pain point — and given that it’s a BlackBerry, made for heavy typists, we advise you to cautiously try before you buy." 3.3/5 stars

"The BlackBerry OS interface is generally brighter and clearer than it ever was. Although it possibly isn't the most simple or intuitive around, we think most people would learn their way around the buttons before long." 3/5 stars
