Prices quoted are for customers who have access to an exchange within a "low cost area". Refer to the Plusnet website for more information.
Plusnet call prices are based on which category your local telephone exchange falls into. Areas with more competition within an exchange between different providers are known as ‘low cost areas’. 80% of UK households fall into the low cost category, and these customers will pay less for Plusnet products than those in other areas. There are no connection fees for any of the plans.
Plusnet guarantees to offer customers the lowest cost standalone broadband service in their area. If a customers does find a lower price then Plusnet will beat it.
Plusnet offers a no-contract option for customers – simply pay for your router up front or use your own if it is compatible and you can leave with 10 days notice and no penalties. In this case there is also a small charge for activating your broadband service.
A BT or Plusnet landline is required to receive Plusnet broadband, with line rental being paid accordingly in addition to broadband charges. Customers who wish to receive Plusnet Talk will need a Plusnet landline.
Getting Started
Availability
You can check for availability of this service by entering your phone number and postcode into the Plusnet website. This will also tell you whether you live in a Low Cost Area or not (80% of UK households fall into this category). If you do not have a current phone line you will need to phone the Sales Team for help.
Switching Broadband Providers
Ask for a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) from your current broadband provider for minimum downtime. Your account will usually become active within around 10 working days. Full details of how to migrate from another broadband provider are provided on the Plusnet website.
Hardware
Customers can choose either a SpeedTouch 1 port wired router or a Thomson 4-port wireless router free of charge for plans taken out on a 12 month contract. No-contract customers can purchase a router if required.

This is available 24/7, 365 days a year by raising a ticket online. There is also an Online Support page with Support Guides covering many topics and a community forum where customers can ask other members for help.
Online Account Management
This allows customers to control and monitor many aspects of their Plusnet accounts.
Excess Data Usage
If you go over your usage allowance, an extra 5GB will be added to your allowance for the month at a cost of £5. You can use the Data Transfer Watch tool provided in your online account to set the maximum amount you wish to spend; once you have reached this limit your connection will be restricted until your next billing date or you increase your limit.
Email
Plusnet offers unlimited email addresses to its customers.
Webmail
Available on all plans, webmail allows you to send and receive emails from any internet connection.
Referral Programme
This programme allows you to receive a monthly discount for each new customer that you introduce to Plusnet broadband. The level of discount depends on the product the new customers signs up for, and is paid each month they stay with Plusnet. There is no limit to the discount you can receive.
Broadband Phone
A broadband phone service can be added to your account after signing up, allowing you to make phone calls over the internet via VoIP. Value and Premium customers receive a pay-as-you-go service, while Pro customers receive 240 included Broadband Phone minutes per month.
Landline
Broadband customers can choose to switch their phone line to Plusnet at a minimum cost of £11.25/month and receive free calls at certain times to UK landlines, 0845 & 0870 numbers, as well as certain international destinations. Inclusive calls are limited to the first 60 minutes (UK) or 30 minutes (international) of each call, after which you will be charged at normal Business Plan rates per minute. Customers can upgrade from Talk Evenings & Weekend (which is free with line rental) to Talk Anytime for a small cost. There is a minimum 1 month contract for both phone packages, although signing up for a special offer or package may mean a longer term.
